Great Expectations(indeed)

Great Expectations…. DP Challenge : Tell us about one thing (or more) that you promised yourself that you’d accomplish by the end of the year. How would you feel once you do? What if you don’t?

Wow! what a topic! I needed this. Need of the hour is to introspect as well as retrospect at least for me. So let me fasten up my seat belt. The list goes on:

1. To make my six year old a bit more self-reliant…though the road ahead has stumbling blocks and I pledge, as mothers are not quitters, that I will get this one done as my top agenda. You can hang on to me.

2. Make my better-half better say best-half to hit the yoga mat, which of late has been safely conserved in our storage room and may be that will motivate me too, to do an asana or two.( no better way to reconnect with him in spiritual level)

3. Now me time:

a) Stop…stop overthinking….more deep breathing…..inhale ….exhale deeper.

b) No dieting…just better eating. No supplements…just natural consumption.

c) Stop over expecting from others but having reasonable, realistic expectations. (You can visit my blog ‘chaitalibhattacharjee7.wordpress.com’ and have an insight on the topic I wrote on “Great Expectations” and my birds eye view on this. Surely, you can put your ideas or two. I would be delighted to hear that.)

d) Now want to talk about something so close to my heart. Something which I always wanted to pursue but have always dissuaded for sundry unplausible reasons. That’s in simple terms WRITING. I have been writing since I don’t know when may be I got that consciousness of things (emotions) around twelve or thirteenish. Writing is my passion but I never could pursue it diligently until now? It’s like taking the stuff out of my mind which one way or other I want to share with and make people relate to it or maybe get entertained or inspired in some way or other. Why am I writing this to you ! It’s because of late I thought I could give my dream some wings. I have started publishing in wordpress from last few days – Everyday things about life and it’s toil. Love me, hate me(my write-ups) but kindly be a part of my humble beginning which is close to my heart. You may like it or not but all that matters is some of yours valuable perspectives.

e) Last but not the least ‘Freshly Pressed’. I am fresh in terms of blogging and love to be freshly pressed by wordpress by this year end. Obviously, contents do matter and other guidelines too. But dreams are dreams. You cannot snatch that from me.

And the list goes on and on and on….

But for now I rest in harmony expecting my expectations gets fulfilled and I feel good rather say great. What if it doesn’t turn out the way I expected, I will not give up. I will try harder. All these years on this planet have taught me two fundamental lessons which matters – Hard work and Consistency – these two infused will definitely get me where I want to. I have always believed that hard work pays you, if not today for sure tomorrow. And as far as consistency is concerned, it will lead me to the destination favourable. Need is to stick to the vision no matter what till you live.

I set a goal to walk/run 3,000,000 steps this year. It will be a struggle, but I also find I need to set goals that help get me back on track when I am struggling. For me a large, cumulative goal is more motivating than a non-cumulative goal. For example, I will write 1 blog post a week is non-cumulative. If I fall off track, it is harder to get back on. Rather, I will write 100 posts this year is cumulative. If I have a bad week (or even a bad month) the big goal is always there, pulling me back.

    • Thank you Ms Moran for liking my post. Yes indeed you are right that cumulative goal setting is motivating as per certain aspects as running target or academic grade control are concerned. But the other side to it which is the basis of strategic management goal setting is to translate the long term goals into focussed short term objectives for easier and controlled implementation. So to each is his or her approach…keep going.
